VOICE Magazine
promo graphic

I designed this web graphic to promote the Fall 2016 issue of VOICE, the university's alumni magazine. The helmet in the photos is a USAF P-4A helmet. The gold-plated visor protected its wearer's eyes from atomic blasts. It is part of the university's natural history collection, which was featured in the same issue.

The cover of the magazine was showcased by Cover Junkie and the Society of Publication Designers and has garnered multiple awards. The model is University of La Verne student Tyler Anderson.

VOICE Magazine:
War & Peace

For this spread, our team chose to photograph Firas with type and images projected over him rather than having them added in post production. Firas was raised in Kuwait and lived through the Persian Gulf and Iraq Wars. Having the projections in-camera represents the way his past has become an intangible yet indelible part of his work as an interfaith leader and advocate for Syrian refugees.

VOICE Magazine:
Lau's Army

Wendy Lau is an alumna and trustee of the University of La Verne. The importance of her work is that she personally mentors students, inspiring them to mentor others and give back to their own communities. Given her mission, the challenge faced while designing her opening spread was to soften any association with a destructive military force.

VOICE Magazine:
125 Influential Individuals

This was my first contribution to VOICE. For it I designed and made 140 individual buttons (125 names and 15 graphic buttons). The spread was photographed on the university athletics field. The header and supporting copy were added in post.

Chocolate type

Type treatment created using molded chocolate. I designed this spread as part of an experimental admissions piece highlighting a day in the life of a La Verne student. This booklet also utilized augmented reality to add another layer of content and interactivity.

Career fair campaign

For this campaign our team wanted to create a fun piece advertising the spring career fair. We decided to feature the university mascots as though they were preparing for job interviews. I art directed the photoshoot, photoshopped the images, and designed all campaign deliverables. These included posters, flyers, banners, and social media graphics.
